Privacy

This explains what MyOasis stores about you, why, and what you can do about it. MyOasis is run by Oasis Family Church. Zimbabwe’s Data Protection Act applies to it.

What we hold

• Your account - your name, username, email address and, if you add one, a phone number and photo.
• What you write - posts, comments, discussion replies, prayer requests, journal entries and messages.
• Giving records - donations, tithes, offerings and pledges recorded by the church office or by you.
• How you use the app - when you last opened it, what you have read in a reading plan, and your streaks.

Who can see it

• Your journal is private. No member and no member of staff can read it.
• Direct messages are between you and the person you sent them to. They are not screened and staff do not read them, but a message you report is shown to a moderator.
• Prayer requests are visible according to the setting you choose when you post them. A private request is read only by pastoral staff. An anonymous request does not carry your name anywhere.
• Giving records are visible to you and to the church treasurer and Super Admin. No other staff role can see them.
• The member directory is visible to members who have confirmed their email address, not to the public.

What we never do

We do not sell your information, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not share it with anyone outside the church except where the law requires it or where someone is at risk of harm.

Your choices

• See your data.Settings → Your data → Download my data gives you everything we hold, as a file.
• Leave.Settings → Delete my account. Your profile, journal and messages are erased. Things you wrote in shared conversations stay, but are no longer linked to you - other people replied to them.
• Control who sees what. Settings lets you decide who can see your profile, contact details, email and phone number.

Why giving records are kept

If you delete your account, your giving records stay. The church has to be able to account for money it received, and those records are the church’s as much as yours. They no longer carry your account, only the name recorded at the time.
