Safeguarding
This page is about keeping children, young people and vulnerable adults safe on MyOasis. It sits alongside the church’s own safeguarding policy, and the church policy takes precedence.
Photographs of children
Please do not post a photograph of a child who is not your own without asking their parent or guardian first. Do not add a child’s full name, school, or anything that says where they will be and when.
If a photograph of your child is on MyOasis and you want it taken down, tell the church office or use Report on the post. It will be removed without question and without you having to explain why.
Adults and young people
Adults working with children should not message a child privately through MyOasis. Keep conversations in group spaces, or involve a parent. This is for everyone’s protection, including yours.
If you are worried about someone
If you think a child or an adult is at risk of harm, tell the church’s safeguarding lead directly. Do not rely on reporting a post - that goes to a moderation queue, which is not the right route for something urgent.
If someone is in immediate danger, contact the emergency services first.
What moderators can see
When you report something, a moderator sees what you reported and who posted it. Reports flagged as a pastoral concern are handled by pastoral staff rather than general moderators.
Contact
The church office can put you in touch with the safeguarding lead. If you would rather speak to someone outside the church, ask and we will help you find the right place.
